There are still opportunities to score points - at this Thursday's 5k handicap, and at the final race of the year, the Black Bun Run on 31 December.

There is also still time to do a ParkRun, or indeed a marathon or an ultra if you can find one!

Please do let Nick know if you spot any errors, etc.  And although he has tried to keep track of everyone's marathons, ultra and ParkRun times, if any are missing then stop being so blooming secretive again please do let him know...

2015 Torness Christmas Handicap Race - Advance notice

Once again it is time to start organising a lunchtime Christmas race - 4 miles around the station taking in the two beaches, seawall etc.

The aim is principally to raise money for a charity to be selected by whoever raises or donates the most cash. As an added bonus you get the opportunity to assess fitness levels, settle old scores and burn off a few calories before the Christmas gluttony kicks in!  Participation subject to operational commitments, supervisor agreement etc. and competitors enter at their own risk.
Date to be confirmed, but most likely Thursday 17th Dec (Subject to Station Christmas lunch etc.). 


Fiona will contact us further early in December confirming the date and details. If you are considering running please let Anne know and I'll pass on your details so you're added to the distribution list for future notifications. Friends and family are welcome.

Please note that the entries for this race are now open. This will take place on Saturday 3rd October 2015 at 11:00 am. The event is open to runners aged 17 or over on the day of the race.

Updated Club Championship Scores

I've updated the Club Championship scores - not least because I now understand how the scoring works!

I had been under the misapprehension that 5k handicap wins, marshalling, ultras, etc were on top of the scores for your best 8 races, but that is not the case.  Those only count (cumulatively per category) as a "race", if they would make it into your best 8.  So, for example, if you had 6 marshalling points, those would count towards your overall score if you'd done 7 or fewer actual races, or the 6 points were better than the score for one of your 8 best actual races.  The marathon ladder, and the two ParkRun ladders count as "actual races".  Clear?! Good!

Linlithgow 10K and Junior Fun Run

This years Linlithgow 10K and Junior Fun Run will be held on 20th September at 14:30. There are still places available in both races, which take in the sights of the historic town, and finish against the dramatic backdrop of Linlithgow Palace.

Touch of Tartan Half Marathon and 5K Kilt Run

The Perth 5k Kilt Run - where participants run a 5k route wearing a traditional kilt - is now in its fourth year, but thanks to the feedback from participants looking for a bigger challenge there is now the introduction of a half-marathon length route starting at Perth Aerodrome and finishing on the North Inch parkland in Perth. It's a mainly flat on and off road route set against a very pretty background, and rather than wearing a kilt, participants are being asked to don a touch of tartan.

What is the Touch of Tartan weekend?

A range of activities being held in Perth, Scotland over the weekend of Saturday 8 August and Sunday 9 August. On the Saturday the events are based around our running and walking events including the 4th annual Perth 5k Kilt Run. There will also be a range of entertainment, music and fun for all the family throughout the day and into the evening. On Sunday the focus is Perth's traditional Highland Games event plus a great Touch of Tartan food event supported by local restaurants and eateries.

Orienteering for Juniors

East Lothian Orienteers are hosting a Wednesday Evening Park series this summer. 

Pete Younger has planned each of these events so that there is an easy course suitable for beginners and juniors totally within the park, and a longer course for adults which will go outside into the surrounding area. Each event will have a simple format; competitors will receive a map with the controls marked on it, and will be asked to match these with the traditional orientering kites. Start times will between 6-7pm. There may be a small entry fee to be paid on the day.

Spire Dunbar 10K - Final Results

Well done to all runners who took part in the Spire Dunbar 10k race last week.
Conditions were pretty good for running (sorry about the hill though).

Rowan Boland Memorial Trust and Gala Harriers Annual Event

The Annual Rowan Boland Memorial Trust and Gala Harriers junior race, fun run, 5k and 10k race will take place on Friday 1st May 2015 at Meigle Park, Galashiels. 

We continue to encourage club members, friends and families to support this fantastic event to raise money for this worthwhile Trust supporting junior sportspeople in the Scottish Borders. 

There is a junior fun run were everyone gets a medal, taking place at 6pm, a family fun walk/jog/run and 5k race at 6:15 and a measured 10k trail/road race at 7pm so there is an event suitable for everyone. The junior fun run is £2 to enter - the other events £5, with registration at the Cricket Club at Meigle Park from 5pm.
