Christmas/New Year

Tuesday 22nd will be the last night meeting at Hallhill for the seniors before Christmas, resuming on 5th January 2010.

 

The Black Bun Run will take place at 7:00 pm on Hogmanay - starting and finishing, as always, opposite the Masons Arms.

Marshals - Cross-Country

Just a reminder to those unsure about the details for Sunday - marshals will be meeting up at 9:30 in the car park for John Muir Country Park.  There will be five groups marking out and marshaling their own sections of the course and then clearing up the same markers at the end - Anne and Stuart will take everything back to Hallhill.

Torness Christmas Handicap Race - 18th December 2009

Invitations to the Torness Christmas handicap, as detailed below, are open to all Dunbar runners. If you are interested please email your name and expected result time to trevor.collins1@british-energy.com by Fri 11th December. It's a handicap race so authentication of any estimated times submitted may be requested. If it's any help, Ian Rowland ran the same course last year in 23:31 (in driving rain and a strong headwind). I'm afraid we can't offer access to the plant so post race showers etc will not be available. The North Sea may be used as a suitable alternative, if you're hardy and mildly unhinged!

The  Torness Xmas Race (aka The Bob Wilson Handicap) will be held during lunchtime on 18^th  December, 1st runner usually sets off at about 12pm. The route is the customary circuit of Thorntonloch Beach, seawall, Skateraw Beach, Chapel Point and return via the old A1 and flask access road. Total distance is about 4 mls. Start/Finish from the Gatehouse.

Runners should raise money for charity by sponsorship or by contributing a nominal entry sub; the choice of charity being given to the runner raising the most cash.

Names of runners please to Trevor Collins (e-mail as above) by 11^th December. Competitors enter at their own risk.

Hi there,

I work in the Buchanan Clinic, Orthotics clinic, on Home Street

4th down by the river

Dear All

Ronhill Cambuslang 4th down by the river annual 10K Road Race & 3k Run
are run on accurate courses and will take place on 27th December this
year.The 10k race is an out and back flat, fast and scenic course down
by the river Clyde walkway.

POLL - LATEST RESULTS

Well the results are in.

40% of respondents claim they do less running during the winter months – no doubt spending more time gyrating around their living rooms hooked up to the latest “Wii-for-the-home-bound”.

A reassuring 48% attempt to maintain an average mileage and 10% positively love the cold and dark and try to get out and do a bit more than usual.

Dunbar Cross-Country

Anne will be organising a jog round the course this Saturday at 11:00 so that anyone marshaling our leg of the Cross-Country can see which areas they will be responsible for on the day.  It worked quite well last year having groups responsible for marking out and marshaling their own areas (and removing markers and signs afterwards).

 

We will meet up in the car park at John Muir Country Park for 11:00, Saturday 5th - remember this is just a jog round the course with lots of stopping and starting, so wear appropriate gear.
