Carfremill to Gifford
We have been invited to join HELP in their annual Carfremill to Gifford run on Wedmesday 15th August.
For those of you who haven’t yet done this …. WHY NOT?? It’s a fantastic run regardless of the weather.
It’s the usual drill …….be at Gifford for about 1815 ish for bus to leave at 1830. Then it’s a simple 10 mile straight run back. And remember – “it’s NOT a race”!!
Let Stuart or Anne know if you intend coming along and if you want to go for the meal afterwards.

Recent Races
On Sunday 24th June, five Dunbar runners took part in the Lairig Ghru Hill Race in the worst conditions in the history of the race for 15 years. Ian Rowland finished in 3:54:33, 14th overall, Rhona Anderson in 4:29:19, taking the first female vet prize, Lee Curtis in 4:32:14, Brian Davidson in 4:35:41 and Andrew Sheldrick 5:07:56.
On the same day Jane Timms and Theresa Leslie took part in the scenic Alnwick Trail Half Marathon, with Jane finishing in 2:10 and Theresa in 2:15. In Oxford, Sheila Morrison took part in a 10k in aid of a primary school in Ethiopia – the conditions on the day meant the race was re-routed, making it a 10.5k cross-country. Sheila was pleased with her finishing time of 1:01, having been second female overall in the Oxford Park Run the previous day with a time of 28:14.
The bad weather didn't deter the 14 from Dunbar who took part in the Portobello 4 mile Road Race on the Thursday evening – Andrew Crichton came in first in 20:39, taking the Steedman Trophy, Ian Sills in 22:58, giving him the first vet prize and Stuart Hay in 23:11, taking 3rd vet prize. Ian Rowland finished in 23:30, James Addie 24:19, Brian Davidson 24:29, Lee Curtis 26:58, Neil Jones 28:19, Karen Page 29:05, making her first female vet, Karen Page, 30:34, Jane Timms, 32:26, Frank Weissgerber 32:53, Clarissa Berry 32:57, Anne Hay 33:12 and Theresa Leslie 33:24. Comrie Hills Relay
teams for the 2012 Simon Wake Comrie Hills Relay on Sunday 9th
September.
As you may know, the race is a 42k relay with 2,110m of ascent, run in
four stages for teams of five runners. It starts and finishes in
Comrie village in Perthshire and follows a highly scenic route up and
around the hills surrounding Glen Lednock. Legs 2 and 3 cover rough
mountain terrain, while Legs 1 and 4, although challenging, are closer
to trail races.
The proceeds from the race go to support research into pancreatic
cancer, the disease from which our friend and club mate Simon died
tragically in 2008. Last year 32 teams took part in a great day of
racing despite some wild weather. We can't guarantee sunshine for 2012
but we can offer
° category and leg prizes
° a barbecue after the race (included in the team entry fee)
° what we hope will again be a very enjoyable and competitive race.
