Jedburgh Running Festival - 25th October 2009
The 8th running of the Half Marathon and the new 10K both start at 11.00 am on Sunday 25th October and we are hoping to attract the continuing large entry for the Half Marathon as well as a substantial number of new participant to the 10K race.
Last years Half Marathon was won in a time of 67.17 minutes (male) and 81.02 (female) from amongst an international field.
We are now taking registration for this year's events and we hope that from within your club there may be some interest and entrants.
Interested parties can go to www.jedburghhalfmarathon.org.uk and register on line.
The principal sponsor of this event is Starrett who is a major local employer.

Golden League
Win 50 tickets for your club to go to the televised international athletics meeting in Grangemouth - also the inaugural Golden League Final - on the evening of Wednesday 26th August (Grangemouth Stadium, Falkirk).
All you have to do is ensure that your club completes the most Equity surveys by Tuesday 18th August to win.
scottishathletics is committed to achieving the Equity Standards Preliminary Level and in order to do this we need your help to complete the audit. It takes less than five minutes to do, so please click on the link below and encourage your club members to do the same:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=AUl0spO_2bsgIJOPUQLtW9_2bw_3d_3d
The Equity Standard has four different levels and scottishathletics has achieved the first 'Foundation Level' and is now going for the next level up - 'Preliminary Level'.
The purpose of the Standard is to develop the organisation in terms of the culture, policies, leadership and people to promote democracy and fairness within the sport. It also aims to improve the services offered such as programmes, communications and customer service - however, in order to find out where our gaps are in achieving Equity, we need as many members as possible to complete the audit.
Many thanks for your help.

Family Day
There is to be a Family Day at Hallhill Healthy Living Centre on Sunday 2nd August from 1:00 to 4:00 pm with various stalls, a children's entertainer etc. It has been suggested that we may want to organise some fun events such as egg and spoon races, sack races and the like, so if anyone is able to help out or has suggestions of what we can do on the day, please contact Anne as soon as possible.

LISTEN UP!
Well there you go then. The results of another thrilling, yet ultimately pointless, poll have been collected, collated, sorted and ….. well briefly looked at to be honest.
Quite a big response this time round, and its interesting to note that while 26% of you think MP3 players are OK for training the vast majority believe they should be either banned from races or even have no place in running at all (53% support a ban while a further 16% think they have no place in running).
One solitary runner voted that they couldn’t live without theirs.
I said, “One solitary runner voted that they couldn’t live without theirs”…. OI !! I said “One solitary runner voted that they couldn’t live without theirs”… If you took those things out your ears you might hear me!!
Cast your eyes to the right and to the top for another poll.
