CARFRAEMILL to GIFFORD - Wed 18th August.

HELP have asked if anyone would like to take part in this years Carfraemill to Gifford run.
For anyone unaware of this event it’s a 10 mile route that goes from, as the name suggests, from Carfraemill through and over the Lammermuirs to Gifford (its honestly not that tough a course). The course is mainly on quiet roads, though a small section does go onto footpaths.
A bus takes the runners from Gifford to the start line. It’s not a race - it’s more a sort of mass club run.
The bus leaves the Goblin Ha at 6:30pm to take the runners to the start for 7:00pm.
We have to let HELP know how many of us from Dunbar are going, so please let Stuart or Anne know if you want to go by 6th August.

MUSSELBURGH 10K

Holidays, injuries and work commitments all played their part in slightly diminishing the Dunbar presence at the Musselburgh 10k race this weekend.

However, those who did manage to make it thoroughly enjoyed it.

Its always nice to get a nice spread of sandwiches and cakes at a race. But how many clubs do you know that lay on ice cream cones?

Well done to Musselburgh for organising this event.

WHW RELAY

On Saturday 10th July a team of Dunbar runners joined HELP to race the West Highland Way relay race.

A fantastic weekend was had by all and despite the gloomy predictions of the weatherman the conditions were excellent (as was the scenery and terrain).

Congratulations to HELP for their well deserved victory.

Thanks to HELP for the invite, the hospitality and the flawless organisation and particular thanks to Frank and Paddy for the driving duties.

GB Coastal Run

There is currently a gap in the coastal relay from musselburgh to
dunbar. The baton is due to arrive in Musselburgh on sunday 11th July
and needs some help to get further round the coast to join up with the
runner waiting to start her leg from Dunbar to Cove.

Lairig Ghru Hill Race

Just on my way back from the race. Splendid day out, the rain holding off and a nice tail wind for good measure. Came in around 4:15, provisionally 25th, the first member of the club across the line...

Turf Cutting Race

MDAC will be hosting the third running of the Turf Cutting Race on Saturday 11th September. It will be run in an orienteering format with checkpoints at each of Musselburgh's Turf Cutting Stations, a total distance of approximately 7.5 miles. A map will be provided. The race will start at 10.30 am from Pinkie playing fields and will be open to senior members of MDAC plus the Haddington and Dunbar Clubs. The race will be followed by soup and sandwiches.

Could you please contact Gordon Eadie if you intend to run.

I have booked changing rooms and the kitchen. Before the race, we will be going over the route on Tuesday nights, if any one wants to join us.

Gordon

This is good fun - urban orienteering, not just a straighforward run.  Highly recommended.  Anne will take details of anyone who is going nearer the time and will pass names to Gordon.

FUN IN THE SUN - PORTOBELLO ROAD RACE.

What better way to spend a summer's evening than a visit to a seaside resort? Even if you don't bring your bucket and spade.

Thursday saw a fairly large group of Dunbar runners heading along the coast to Portobello for the 4 mile "Prom" race.

Conditions were near perfect (though perhaps a bit warm) and some good times were posted. And we even managed to bag a couple of trophies - well done Andrew and Karen.

Ian was on hand to take some pictures and his results can be found here: http://picasaweb.google.com/stu.hay/PortobelloRoadRace2010?feat=directlink
