GB Coastal Run

There is currently a gap in the coastal relay from musselburgh to
dunbar. The baton is due to arrive in Musselburgh on sunday 11th July
and needs some help to get further round the coast to join up with the
runner waiting to start her leg from Dunbar to Cove.

Lairig Ghru Hill Race

Just on my way back from the race. Splendid day out, the rain holding off and a nice tail wind for good measure. Came in around 4:15, provisionally 25th, the first member of the club across the line...

Turf Cutting Race

MDAC will be hosting the third running of the Turf Cutting Race on Saturday 11th September. It will be run in an orienteering format with checkpoints at each of Musselburgh's Turf Cutting Stations, a total distance of approximately 7.5 miles. A map will be provided. The race will start at 10.30 am from Pinkie playing fields and will be open to senior members of MDAC plus the Haddington and Dunbar Clubs. The race will be followed by soup and sandwiches.
 
Could you please contact Gordon Eadie if you intend to run.
 
I have booked changing rooms and the kitchen. Before the race, we will be going over the route on Tuesday nights, if any one wants to join us.

This is good fun - urban orienteering, not just a straighforward run.  Highly recommended.  Anne will take details of anyone who is going nearer the time and will pass names to Gordon.

DONKEY BRAE RUN, ABERDOUR, FIFE 2010

My local village organise a 10 day Community Festival with an array of

energetic is the Donkey Brae Run 1 pm, Sunday 1st August 2010.

FUN IN THE SUN - PORTOBELLO ROAD RACE.

What better way to spend a summer's evening than a visit to a seaside resort? Even if you don't bring your bucket and spade.

Thursday saw a fairly large group of Dunbar runners heading along the coast to Portobello for the 4 mile "Prom" race.

Conditions were near perfect (though perhaps a bit warm) and some good times were posted. And we even managed to bag a couple of trophies - well done Andrew and Karen.

OK Folks it’s summer time (apparently) and some of you will be thinking of heading off for warmer and, dare I say it, more interesting climes.

Now. For some people a holiday means just that – a chance to get away from everything (including the running). For others it’s simply an opportunity to run somewhere different.

So here’s the thing… We want photos. Lets see what interesting locations we can snap a Dunbar vest in. You can be running … or not. You can be holidaying in “Foreign” … or not. Anything goes - as long as that Dunbar vest is clearly in view (well when we say “anything” obviously the usual guidelines on decency apply).

This competition will end when the leaves start to turn brown and fall from the trees. A suitable prize will be awarded to what we think is the best photo (we will have a vote at the end).

ELSS RACE 2 - URGENT - HELP REQUIRED

Stuart will be unavailable to officiate at the next ELSS race (hosted
by Dunbar) (Jazz gig of a lifetime).
Can anyone stand in and "take the watch"?
What's required is for someone to register any new runners, start the
runners on time and record the times and numbers of finishers.
Stuart will pass on all paperwork on Tuesday. The handicap times for
runners who already completed leg1 have been calculated.

Help with Junior Events and Meeting

Dunbar running club (juniors) will be hosting the pentathlon on 22nd June.  This will involve athletes from Lasswade, Musselburgh and Haddington coming along to join us for the night.
If anyone could help out please let Maureen know if they are available to assist with this.
We always need lots of help with registering the athletes for this one.
Club will start at 6 pm that night for registration.
 
Our Fun Run + BBQ at John Muir Country Park will take place on 29th June. 6.30 pm until 8.30 pm. Again any help would be appreciated to set up the route and assist with the food and drinks.

Also, as mentioned at the AGM, Ian Rowland, Anne and Stuart were at a meeting with Penny Lochhead and Wendy Sheldrick of PMR Leisure on 20th May re. the review of Hallhill.  They have now organised a collective meeting of the Hallhill Sports Clubs on Thursday the 17th June at 6:30pm at Hallhill which some of us won't be able to attend - if anyone is available on Thursday to go, please contact Anne for background information.
 

Cloybank Trail Race - 28th August 2010

Dear All

Carnegie Harriers are assisting with a brand new event in 2010 which
is called the Cloybank 6K Trail Race. This event will take place at
2pm on Saturday 28th August within the grounds of Cloybank Estate in
Banknock, Stirlingshire. All proceeds from the race will be donated
to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow. We have a race
limit of 75 runners for this event and entries are now being taken
