Hawick Half-Marathon

Four Dunbar runners travelled to the Borders on Sunday to take part in the Hawick Half Marathon, a challenging course, taking in Clarilaw and Horsleyhill.  Stuart Hay came in second overall in a time of 1:20:59, with Richard Taylor coming in 6^th in 1:25:28 – taking three minutes off his previous best for the distance.  Rhona Anderson defended her title as first lady, improving her time from last year and finishing 10^th overall in 1:29:49, with Anne Hay coming in further down the field in 1:50:23.

 

The previous Sunday had seen Lee Curtis taking part in the difficult Ben Nevis race finishing in a creditable time of 2:23:43. 

 

At the FreshnLo Great Scottish Run in Glasgow on the same Sunday, Brian Davidson achieved a personal best in the 10K with a time of 43:27, with Theresa Leslie finishing in 1:02:13.  Suzanne McCullough finished her first Half Marathon in 2:03:39, with Katy Gardiner finishing in 2:14:04.

Reminder From Gordon Eadie - Musselburgh Turf Cutting Race

A reminder for:-

 

Saturday           12^th September           Musselburgh Turf Cutting race

Race will be run in an orienteering format (maps will be given out and / or you can run with a local) with checkpoints at each of Musselburgh's Turf Cutting Stations, a total distance of approximately 7.5 miles. The race will start at 11:00 am from Pinkie playing fields and will be open to senior members of MDAC plus the Haddington and Dunbar Clubs. The race will be followed by soup and sandwiches.

 

I have booked the kitchen and changing rooms at Pinkie.

To help with catering, can you please confirm to me if you intend to run.

Great North Run

I have in my possession two entries for the Great North Run on
September 20th. If anyone at the club are interested, or know anyone
else who may be then (given the short notice) I'll let them go on the
cheap.

Dear Sir/Madam

We are currently casting a Scottish feature film called Eagle Of The
Ninth, directed by Kevin MacDonald (Last King Of Scotland), which will be
shot in Scotland October 2009.

We are looking for males aged 20-30 years old, specifically with a fit,
lean physiques to appear in the film as "Seal Warriors". These are
supporting artists roles and will be heavily featured in the film.
Artists will be needed for several consecutive days in October and will be
FULLY PAID.

20-30, lean and fit? Well thats most of us out the frame.

A Devil of a Race

No, that wasn't a reference to Haddington, though it was a bit on the tough side.  The reference was to the Devil O' the Highlands, the 43 miler Ian Rowland did on Saturday, starting at 6:00 am at Tyndrum, heading to Fort William.  Ian came 8th out of 96 finishers with a time of 6:39:11. 

 

So Ian was well finished by the time the runners were setting off for the Haddington Half Marathon - Stuart Hay came 7th overall, taking the prize for first East Lothian male, with a time of 1:20:53, Richard Taylor finished in 1:29:03, with Rhona Anderson once again, running in brilliant form finishing in 1:31:39.  That gave Rhona the prize for 1st female vet as well as first East Lothian female.  Also running were Steve Pattison, Neil Jones, Anne Hay, Mary Pattison, Brian Davidson, Sheila Morrison and Val Herring.  Dunbar also won the prize for first ladies team.

EAST LOTHIAN 5K CHAMP'S

Saturday 29th August
East Lothian 5k Champs

This is the first running of this event.

The race will be open to the senior members of the Musselburgh,
Haddington and Dunbar Clubs, and will be held at St Davids Campus,
Dalkeith in conjunction with East Lothian Junior Champs. The race
starts at 11 am, with registration at 10.30am.
