FESTIVE

Well, the surrounding countryside certainly looked "festive", but there was little chance of any of the runners who took part in this years Festive Half or Festive 10k ever getting a PB.
The snow looks lovely on a Christmas card - not on a race route!
Still, 19 runners took to the quiet paths of John Muir Country Park and the almost as quiet roads around Tyningham to complete the course with as much grit and determination as the council had lavished on their roads.
In the half, the honours went to Ian Sills in 1:34:22 and Megan Wright in 1:36:34.
The 10k was an altogether more social event with the entire field not only starting together but sticking together all the way round. In the end the honours went to Claire Simpson and Ray Harris.
Thanks go to Jim, George and Ian for keeping times, and special thanks to all the marshals and route markers for keeping an incredibly low profile!

FESTIVE HALF

Please note that it is our intention to still go ahead with Sunday's "Festive Half" and 10k runs.
However, it may be prudent, given the weather conditions, to either slightly amened the route or the format (possibly switch to a group start rather than individual handicaps).
Either way, if Hallhill's open we plan to do some sort of run - so see you there!

"BY THE LIGHT...OF THE SILVERY MOON"

"BY THE LIGHT...OF THE SILVERY MOON"

Sadly not a discourse on the movies of Doris Dey, but merely a notice of an impending run….

Tuesday 23rd November is only one day after the next full moon. As such, weather permitting, it should be an ideal night for a “head-torch” training run.

A few of us are already planning a bit of a longer (but slower) run this Tuesday so if you fancy joining us then please remember to bring your head-torch.

Exact route is not yet known but we will try to arrange it that you can “peel off” to do a slightly shorter run if desired.

FESTIVE HALF (or 10K)

FESTIVE HALF (or 10K)

This years “Festive Half” will be run on Sunday 5th December.

If you don’t feel up to a half then you can always opt for the 10k route.

Both races start and end at Hallhill. Remember, this is a handicap race and the idea is that we all end as close to 12:00 as we can. So, if you think it’ll take you 1:40 to do the half you would be started at 10:20 etc. Both routes take in John Muir Country Park.

Soup, sandwiches etc. will be laid on after the race.

LOST

LOST

Did anyone (well any bloke) accidently pick up a high-viz bib on Tuesday last that doesn’t belong to them?

If so, Stuart is keen to be reunited with it!

Cheers.

Paying too much to enter marathons?

If you have ever thought marathon entry fees are going up and up then this maybe for you.

Whilst preparing for the upcoming Newcastle Town Moor Marathon my attention was brought to this web site which I thought might be of interest to some of you.

Many of your members at Dunbar Running Club have probably run the

other features.

It is an indispensable reference guide and a permanent record of
personal achievement.

Please be in touch if I can be of any further assistance.

HOLIDAY SNAPS III

HOLIDAY SNAPS III

“I’m Dunbar – fly me.”

Some people can’t even wait till they’re on the plane to pose for pictures for our competition.

Sadly the vest was every bit as clean and pristine on the return flight L
