ANNUAL DINNER - 26th FEBRUARY

The date for the clubs annual Dinner has been set for Friday 26th of February.

The location is The Rocks restaurant in Dunbar. Cost is in the region of £25 per person. The Rocks have a couple of mini-van/buses and will hopefully lay on transport for those who need it (within reason).

It is our intention this year to combine the dinner with the club's prize giving.

Obviously all members and partners are welcome, but please let Stuart know by 29th January if you intend to come along so that we can give the restaurant an idea of numbers.

See you there.

Joggy Coach

Hello,

We've just released a new Iphone App "Joggy Coach" dedicated to
running activities.

In order to improve and evolve its features, feel free to talk about
this tool and to send us your feedback. Off course you can include a
link to us on your website our your newletters.

There are already many tools (garmin watch, nike +, other apps etc...)
which measure running performances, but we believe that Joggy Coach
brings interesting new features, and most of that for a very lower
price.

We also take this opportunity to wish you a happy new year 2010 and a
lot of running miles :-)

WEST HIGHLAND WAY - INTER CLUB RELAY. WHO'S UP FOR IT??

Please see the message below, from HELP, and get back to Stuart, ASAP, if you are interested.
This is an ideal opportunity for a weekend trip and a chance to get to run along this route.

-----------------------------------------------------

Happy New Year to you and the rest of the Dunbar crew.

Regarding the proposed relay challenge over the West Highland Way I am looking at the weekend of 10 -11 July. It means an early 4am start for the initial leg runners but this is the only way we can comfortably fit in the whole route so that we are able to get to the evening accommodation and have a meal and a few drinks (and brag about the day's activities). Last year we started at 4am and finished just about 8pm.

There would probably be about 12 stages and I propose that we have one principle runner for each leg - we would try to match runners of comparable ability (eg lady with lady etc). As many people as want to can run each leg but from the point of view of having "a race" let us keep the time of the principle runners as the race time. Details can be discussed later.

We would probably need a support bus for each team. I need to know how many "volunteers" you are likely to have from Dunbar and how many rooms to book. Last year we stayed at the Inchcree holiday village - this has communal rooms housing upto 8 (for those who have friends) and chalet style rooms housing couples.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards

Paddy McDonald

DID YOU GET WHAT YOU WANTED?

DID YOU GET WHAT YOU WANTED?

Well, the holidays are over and it’s back to normal. Time to choose between the NIKE’s or the snow-shoes and get out there and burn off all that Christmas pudding.

The results of our last on-line poll have now been [belatedly] counted and scrutinised.

27% of you asked Santa for running gear and 73% didn’t.

Whatever you asked for we hope you got what you wanted, or at least like what you got.

Simple poll to start the new year off the way we mean to go on. So… eyes right and up.

Just In Case Anyone Was Thinking of This One....

Due to the weather and specifically the poor underfoot conditions the
Nigel Barge 10k Memorial Road Race (and associated 3k Junior Race)
will not go ahead as advertised this coming Saturday 9th January. Both
events have been postponed, and will instead take place on Saturday
27th March 2010 with the venue still Garscube Sports Complex. Those
who have pre-entered can retain their place for the new date, secure a
place in the 2011 race, or alternatively contact Kenny Stevenson for a
full refund (ken.stevenson@hendersonloggie.co.uk). Sorry for any
inconvenience caused. Further details are available at
www.maryhillharriers.com.

Hope to see you all in March.

BLACK BUN RUN 2009

The last race of 2009 (in Dunbar anyway) saw 15 runners brave the
bitterly cold conditions.
On a night when those with less "get up an go" but, arguably, perhaps
a bit more "common sense" were warm indoors getting ready for the
festivities these runners set off on the quick mile and a half course.

The recent snow had left the conditions "good to firm" but nothing was
able to assist the challengers from stopping Grant once again claiming
the coveted "Bun".
