EDINBURGH TO NORTH BERWICK - SHORTER !!

It would appear that this years Edinburgh to North Berwick race has been altered.

Changing and registration still at Meadowbank, but this years race starts at the prom and is "only" 20 miles long (the one and a half loops of the track was the only bit I enjoyed)!

So. A shorter route - no excuse for not getting a PB this year!

Lasswade

A number of East Lothian club runners enjoyed their first road race of the season when they took part in the Lasswade Athletics Club 10 Mile race on Sunday 1^st March.  The race, which has gained popularity in recent years, gives the runners a few challenges with a few steep climbs along the way, as well as a final uphill to the finish line.

 

Ian Rowland of Dunbar Running Club finished 14^th overall in 60:48, with club mate Stuart Hay taking 17^th place in 61:28.  New member to Musselburgh & District AC, Dermot Ferry was third East Lothian club runner home in an impressive 66:16.  Dunbar's Graeme Jones and Rhona Anderson had a close race, with Graeme just finishing 3 seconds ahead of Rhona in 68:16.  Other East Lothian runners taking part were Finlay Smith (HELP) 68:54, Alex Oliver (MADAC) 70:04, Frank McPartland (HELP) 70:58, Tony Segall (MADAC) 74:38, Brian Davidson (DRC) 77:02, Gordon Eadie (MADAC) 77:55, Anne Hay (DRC) 80:55, Jan Oliver 84:20 and Stewart McConnell 85:56 (MADAC), Judith Donaldson (HELP) 92:05, Fiona Brewster 93:19, Valerie Herring 93:27, Sheila Morrison 95:08 (all DRC), Jennifer Rutherford (MADAC) 99:20 and Theresa Leslie (DRC) 100:31.

FEBRUARY POLL - RESULTS NOW IN.

We are happy to reveal that the results of February’s poll “What’s your favourite race distance” are now in. Results are:

10k – 22%

Half Marathon – 61%

Marathon – 11%

“what’s a ‘race’” – 5%

It's that Andrew Crick-ton again! Andrew Crichton wins the series, with
other Dunbar runners getting a loads of other prizes between them. If anyone
can think of a good use for 11 horse brasses then let us know!

Tesco Vouchers

Once again Anne will be collecting Tesco vouchers if anyone wants to pass them on.  This time round, Tesco are combining their schemes "Computers for Schools" and "Sports for Schools and Clubs" so any vouchers that could go towards any equipment for the junior section of the the club, would be much appreciated. 

 

Vouchers will be available in store from Monday 2nd March until Sunday 7th June 2009.

East Lothian X-C - Sunday 15th

Hi All. With the snow lying nice and white outside, just thought I would make one more plea for HELP on Sunday next at Meadowmill for the East Lothian XCCC.

Julie has offered to do Registration from 11.30am and I have had offers to help set up the course from 9am. Lasswade's David Hands has offered to be Referee and Dave McConnell has agreed to be timekeeper, I do need OTHER OFFERS of HELP.

I know the date clashes with the Border's League final event and that is something we need to consider when looking at next year's callender of events.

I have invited ALL the Primary and Secondary Schools to enter teams but as this is the holiday week am not too hopeful of a good response.

I have inspected the course on Friday, but will need to make a final decision if the weather deteriorates as to whether we go ahead. It will be access issues rather than course issues.

 

Helen Bruce has arranged for a local Councillor to present awards and this will again be a good time to plug the Venue as a prospective Athletic Centre of Excellence for East Lothian. The ELC Budget debate is this week and I hope to hear good news.....
