KB 5 Mile Race

It is coming up to the annual KB 5 Mile Road Race held by Edinburgh University Hare and Hounds running club.
This year the race is on Saturday 12th March at 13.00pm.  It is always a popular race and well attended by many local clubs.

 

Entry forms will be on the club noticeboard at Hallhill next week.

The 28th Penicuik 10km Road Race will be on the
14th May 2011 • Start Time ~ 2:15pm
Declarations, changing facilities and parking are located at Penicuk High School, Carlops Road, Penicuik
Declarations and entries open at noon, close at 1:30pm
Pre-entry fee £7 (affiliated) or £9 (non-affiliated)
Entry on the day £8 (affiliated) or £10 (non-affiliated)
Prizes to major category winners
Teams: First 3 seniors to finish per club
Under UK Athletics rules
Scottish Athletics Permit event
Memento for first 220 runners
Please Note: No headphone/earphones/ipods etc permitted during race

Cross-Country - Dunbar Leg and Prize-Giving

Just a reminder to everyone that Dunbar will be hosting the final leg of the Borders Cross-Country Series on Sunday 27th February and then the prize-giving for the series at Hallhill afterwards.  This means that we will need more helpers than usual this year as some people will be required to help organise one or two things at Hallhill while the races are taking place.

 

It would be preferable if people who have set up/marshaled certain parts of the course before could do the same again, as they will be familiar with their section of the course.  Timekeepers will be needed and a back marker for both the junior and the senior races.  The help at Hallhill will relate to making sure the hall is set up, what changing rooms are available, putting up signs and helping with the refreshments.

 

Anne will be approaching members over the next couple of weeks.  Please remember that as host club, our priority is to ensure that this event runs as smoothly as possible.

Annual Dinner

The club annual dinner has being provisionally booked for Friday 4th March 2011 at 7:30pm.

 

The venue is The Linton Hotel, East Linton - a menu should be available for perusal in due course.

 

Please let Anne know if you wish to come - please note that the club is not providing transport to the venue.

The club have received the following letter from the Président du club sportif - I was only notified about this last night, so I have sent a response that we will not have the information for 15th, but if interested parties could come back to me as soon as possible - ie the next couple of days, I can give Pascal some idea of numbers.

Our association organizes an annual athletics event called "Les Boucles de 1'Arnon" which consist in:

 

·         2 races for adults, 10 km and 5km

·         2 races for youngsters, 1.5 km and 1km

·         Walking, 20 km, 14km, 6km

 

The event will take place all day on April 10^th 2011.

 

During Janeth Hall visit at Lignieres last May (donkey fair), we discussed on the possibility for some member of Dunbar Running Club to take part in the event.  We will be pleased to welcome you on the occasion.

 

In order to prepare your stay we need the following information: number of participants, sex, age, time and day of arrival, etc.  We would be grateful if you could let us have these details by January 15^th at the latest.

25 YEARS - MEETING

The committee has recently discussed various ways the club can celebrate our “silver anniversary” this year.

To decide what exactly we want to do, and perhaps finalise some of the ideas, we propose to have a brief informal meeting on Tuesday 25^th JANUARY (sorry) at 7:45 (just after the Tuesday night run).

The meeting is open to all members past and present so please put the word around.

APPEAL. Do any of the more “mature” members have an original Dunbar Running Club vest (not the green diagonal stripe we all know so well)?

If you do could you bring it along or perhaps arrange for us to borrow it for a day or so? Even if Anyone has a good photo of the original vest that would be OK.

Round the Houses 10K

Round the Houses/ Jim Dingwall Memorial 10k is taking place at Grangemouth Stadium on Sunday 27th March.
